Are practices here in town?
Yes. All practices are out at the Burlington Area RecPlex.
Are any games here or are they all out-of-town?
One tournament, The Burlington Monster Match is held in Burlington. 5 other tournaments are held out of town.
In addition, U11 and older teams will play up to 8 games of IPSL (Iowa Premier Soccer League) and U9/U10 teams will play up to 8 games in the Academy Prgram, during both the fall and spring seasons. Usually these are double headers. 1 – 2 of those games will at the Burlington RecPlex.
Approximately 3 or 4 days of IPSL/Academy will be played out of town, per season.
What's the farthest we would travel?
Usually we travel to Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Muscatine and sometimes the Quad City area. There are other optional places occasionally depending on age and team.
Are games on weekends or are some during the week?
Tournaments are on 3 weekends in the Fall, and 3 in the Spring/Summer. U11 and older IPSL games are usually on Sundays and U9/U10 Academy games are usually on Saturdays.
What is average cost to get into the games?
Usually nothing for the spectators. The player's fees are included in their Club fees and put towards each tournament. The City of Burlington does charge a minimal gate fee for the RecPlex. That is to pay for the soccer fields. As you will find out, the RecPlex soccer fields are the best fields we play on.
What equipment do we need to furnish?
You will need to pay for the uniforms up front. ($60 - $80)
In addition, each child buys their own shin guards, socks and cleats. It is also highly recommended that each child has their own ball to practice at home. Otherwise, the Burlington Area Soccer Club ELITE program provides all the training equipment.
What are the program fees?
Fees for the 2013/2014 Season are $385 plus $60-$80 for uniform costs. $200 for High School age group (half season).
Are there payment plans?
Yes. You may pay the total balance up front, you may pay at the beginning of each season, or there will be a monthly payment plan option. All payments will need to be paid in full by February of the playing season.
Is there financial assistance?
Yes. There is some funding for children in need. We want every player who is capable and wants to commit to play. We do not want anyone to hesitate playing traveling soccer due to money concerns.
What about fundraising?
There are approximately 2 individual fundraisers a year and 1 club fundraiser. Money earned by doing the individual fund-raisers can go directly towards your fees and account balance.
Are there any other "hidden" costs we might have besides the registration fee, uniform fee, and gas expenses?
There are a few optional items:
- Hotels - Often, several people from the teams stay at a hotel, that is blocked for the team, during an out of town tournament. The Parent Rep for a team reserves a block of rooms at adiscounted rate. It is not mandatory to stay; this is optional. Tournaments usually run Sat and Sunday. Some are one day only.
- Winter League - We have an Indoor League during the winter at the YMCA/YWCA. If the kids play Winter League, there will be an additional low fee to play.
- There are occasionally optional indoor tournaments during the winter that teams/players can choose to attend. If a player/team attends an optional Indoor Tournament during the winter season, the entry fees are in addition to our yearly Club Fees.
